The area is lively with many restaurants, bars, and shops within a 3-minute walk. Public transport is excellent: U-Bahn line 6 and tram M10/12 stop directly outside. Berlin Hauptbahnhof is 1 km away (15 minutes on foot or one stop by tram). Major sights like Alexanderplatz, Brandenburg Gate, and Museum Island are 20-30 minutes by public transport. The party districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg are about 30 minutes away. The immediate neighbourhood includes a pub and beer garden, though the area near the main station can feel less polished late at night. Walk to the Natural History Museum or Berlin Wall Memorial in under 5 minutes.

Dorm rooms range from 16 to 20 m² with bunk beds (single beds; double rooms can be pushed together). Private options include double/twin rooms with shared or private bathroom. One double room has a loft bed (bed upstairs, bathroom downstairs); all others have beds at ground level. Heating is provided, but there is no air conditioning or fans - summer nights can be hot. Rooms facing the pub are subject to loud music until 2-3 AM, especially weekends; top-floor rooms are quieter. Some mezzanine beds have very low ceiling clearance (about 1 metre) and are accessed by ladder - not suitable for those with mobility issues. Shared bathrooms feature push-button showers with a 5-20 second water timer and sensor taps with built-in hand dryers that can spray water. Locks are missing on women's shower doors. Bed linens are provided but guests make their own beds. Towels and hairdryers are available for rent (€4) or free in some bathrooms. Lockers in rooms require a €1 deposit (refundable).

The hostel does not serve breakfast to individuals (only to groups of 30+ with a minimum 3-night stay). The ground-floor bar, Alt-Berlin pub, offers a range of drinks including wine and champagne (for a fee) and a welcome drink. Several cafés and restaurants are within a 3-minute walk, serving German, Asian, and French cuisine. The shared kitchen on the 3rd floor is open 24 hours and has a kettle, microwave, and fridge - useful for preparing simple meals, but there is no stove. No room service or in-room dining is available.

The property does not have a swimming pool, spa, or gym. The traditional Alt-Berlin pub and a beer garden/sun terrace provide spaces to relax. A shared lounge/TV area is available indoors. Free walking tours organised by external companies pick up daily from the hostel. The building itself hosts temporary art galleries. For active leisure, the Berlin Wall Memorial and parks are nearby. Note that the ballroom downstairs hosts tango and other dance events with loud music until late, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

Wi-Fi is free throughout. The shared kitchen (3rd floor) is open 24/7 and includes a kettle, microwave, and fridge. Luggage can be left in the reception area during staff hours (10:30-17:00) but is not supervised. The self check-in terminal works 24/7 after 4pm; a personal code provides door access. The lift serves all floors. Meeting/banquet facilities are available for an extra charge. An ATM is on site. Safety features include CCTV, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. The property is adults-only and non-smoking throughout, with a designated smoking area. No parking or airport shuttle is available. After hours, assistance is via phone or online chat.
