Hotel Barracuda sits directly on the Caribbean Sea with a private dock and ocean access. The property is across the street from Mega supermarket (with free parking and a 24-hour taxi stand) and a 5-minute drive from Cozumel International Airport. Downtown Cozumel, with shops and dining, is within a 10-12 minute walk. The ferry terminal is about a 12-minute walk away, and the beach dock for excursions is a 10-minute walk. The location is rated excellent for walkability and convenience, with many restaurants and attractions nearby.

Each room is furnished with two double beds and basic, older-style furniture. Rooms are clean but dated; newer mattresses have been installed in some units. All rooms face the ocean, offering great views, but street or pool-facing rooms may experience noise from the bar area during the day. There is no elevator, so lower floors are advisable for those with heavy luggage or mobility concerns. Rooms do not have microwaves, coffee makers, or in-room safes, but a safety deposit box is available at reception. Air conditioning works well, though some units can be noisy.

Breakfast is available for an additional 7 USD and must be selected when booking. The hotel also has a sports bar, snack bar, and an ice-cream parlour. The pool bar (No Name Bar) is popular and can be busy with external visitors during the day, but quiet in the evenings. Hotel visitors receive a 50% discount on all food and drinks when paying in cash. Many restaurants are within a short walk, offering a variety of cuisines.

The pool is open all year and offers a swim-up bar, sun loungers, and towels. The pool area is shared with an external beach club, so it can get crowded and lively, especially between 11am and 4pm when cruise ship visitors arrive. Direct ocean access via steps allows for swimming and snorkelling. On-site water sports include diving, snorkelling, and windsurfing (additional charges apply). The spa offers body treatments, body scrubs, pedicures, and other services at an additional cost.

An on-site dive shop provides equipment rental and boat trips with its own dock and rinse area for gear. There is no elevator, no airport shuttle, and no beauty services.
