CARTWRIGHT HOTEL UNION SQUARE - BW PREMIER COLLECTION, San Francisco

Situated just off Union Square, the hotel is within a 5-minute walk of the 4th and Market Street Cable Car Stop, providing direct access to Fisherman's Wharf (3 km away) and the Embarcadero. The Golden Gate Bridge is 7 km from the property. Numerous restaurants, including Lori's Diner, Akiko's Sushi Bar, and Morton's The Steakhouse, are within a 0.5 km radius. The BART and Muni lines are also easily reachable. While the immediate block is generally safe, the Tenderloin district is nearby, so evening return routes are quieter on well-lit main streets.

Rooms are warm in style with dark wood furniture and generally compact; double rooms have a shower-only bathroom, while select Queen Renovated, King, and all suite rooms offer bathtubs (subject to availability). Each room includes a flat-screen cable TV, CD player, coffee machine with organic local coffee, ironing facilities, heating, and air conditioning (most rooms; front-facing Sutter Street rooms may lack AC). The rooms are best suited for one or two travelers prioritizing location over spaciousness. Suites add a separate living room with a queen sofa bed, larger bathroom, and standard refrigerator. All rooms have private bathrooms. Rooms away from the street or on the eighth floor tend to be quieter. Toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, are provided.

The hotel provides free coffee (freshly brewed with organic local coffee) and tea each morning from 7:00 to 10:00 in the lobby. There is no hot breakfast, bar, or restaurant on the property. Guests can find a wide variety of dining options within a short walk, including Lori's Diner, Uncle Vito's Pizzeria, Morton's The Steakhouse, Akiko's Sushi Bar, and Pinecrest Diner. A 7-Eleven is directly across the street, and a microwave is available in the common area for reheating food.

The property does not have a swimming pool, spa, or gym. The lobby provides a comfortable lounge area with a fireplace, a flat-screen TV, and a relaxed historical setting for reading or socializing. For recreation and fitness, guests must rely on nearby city attractions and public spaces.

The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/check-out, concierge service, and complimentary luggage storage both before check-in and after check-out. The business centre has two computers and a printer and is free to use. Wi-Fi is free in rooms. Safety features include key card access, in-room safety deposit box (free), smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Wheelchair-accessible rooms and some accessible features (raised toilet, grab rails, Braille signage) are available. Pets are allowed with no extra fee (up to 2 dogs per room, 36 kg weight limit; cats and other pets considered at hotel discretion). There is no on-site parking; a nearby garage is available for $35-$40 per night plus tax with in-and-out privileges. A security deposit of at least $25 is taken via credit card at check-in.
