From SFO Airport, the BART ride takes about 28 minutes and costs $9.15-$9.65. The area has a high concentration of homeless individuals and open drug use, which can feel uncomfortable after dark. Staying within the immediate blocks around Union Square feels safer; walking further west from Powell Street is not advised after dusk. For daytime exploration, Chinatown and the Financial District are within a 10-minute walk, and many restaurants are within a 5-minute radius.

Private double, twin, and family rooms offer a wardrobe, flat-screen TV, and private bathroom with a bath or shower. Rooms are small - especially those with bunk beds - with limited floor space for luggage. Road-facing rooms can be noisy from street traffic and the club below; rooms to the rear or interior are quieter but may lack natural light. Some rooms have the sink located inside the main room rather than in the bathroom. Air conditioning units have been reported as unreliable in warmer months, and the building can feel warm if the unit is not cooling. Rooms are cleaned daily upon request.
