HOTEL D'AMSTERDAM LEIDSESQUARE, Amsterdam

The hotel is in central Amsterdam, a short walk from Leidseplein's cafés, bars, and restaurants, and close to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Vondelpark. Bus 397 from Schiphol Airport stops at Leidseplein, and trams 2 and 12 from Central Station arrive at the same square. The neighbourhood is lively during the day but relatively quiet at night, making it suitable for both sightseeing and relaxation. The area feels safe and is well-connected by public transport, with a tram stop and convenience store within a five-minute walk. While the city centre is reachable on foot in about 15-20 minutes, the immediate surroundings offer plenty of dining and shopping options.

Standard double rooms are small, with some described as very compact, especially for the price. The decor is dated, with older carpeted floors and worn furniture, though cleaning standards are generally acceptable. All rooms have a private bathroom with a shower and toilet, but some bathrooms are very small and may have drainage odours or low water pressure. Heating and air conditioning are available but may not always work reliably; the air conditioning can be set to cool mode only. Rooms on the ground floor or near the kitchen area can be noisy due to staff activity. Noise from other rooms and the corridor is common due to thin walls and poor soundproofing. A few deluxe rooms include a balcony. There is no blackout curtain in some rooms. An iron and ironing board can be requested at reception.

The hotel serves a continental breakfast in the breakfast room, which must be ordered the evening before your stay. The breakfast is basic and limited in variety. There is no restaurant or bar on site, and no evening lounge or common area for guests. However, the location offers numerous restaurants, cafés, and fast-food options within a short walk, including Italian, Mexican, and Dutch cuisine. For guests with coeliac disease, gluten-free options can be catered if requested in advance. A vending machine for drinks is available.

Wellness and leisure facilities are limited to bicycle rental, which is available through the hotel for a well-priced fee. The immediate area provides access to Vondelpark, the canal belt, and museum district, all within walking distance. No spa, swimming pool, gym, or other recreational amenities are present on site.
