HOTEL DUOMO, Siena

The hotel occupies a 12th-century mansion in the heart of the medieval town, 4 km from Siena train station. Access by car is strictly limited to the Porta San Marco entrance; driving directions are provided at check-in to avoid entering restricted areas. The central position places all major sights - including Piazza del Campo, the Duomo, Basilica San Domenico, and the Sanctuary of St Catherine - within a 5-10 minute walk. Numerous restaurants, trattorias, and shops are clustered on the surrounding streets. The location is ideal for exploring the city on foot, but reaching the hotel from the station requires a taxi or a steep uphill walk. Siena's free unattended parking lots are about 250 m away, and the hotel's garage is reachable by a short drive.

Breakfast offers a wide range of sweet and savoury items: pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, and hot drinks. The waitstaff are attentive and will remember preferences after repeated visits. Although coffee from the buffet is simple, a café latte from the bar provides a stronger alternative. The hotel has no restaurant, but room service is available for breakfast in the room and wine/champagne (at an additional charge). The surrounding streets offer numerous trattorias and osterias within 300 m, such as Osteria Permalico and Ristorante Quattro Cantoni, providing ample evening dining choices.

The terrace provides an outdoor space for relaxation and sightseeing, with tables and chairs where guests can enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the medieval town. The city's main sights and parks are within walking distance, making the hotel a practical base for exploring rather than a destination for on-site wellness activities. There are no leisure or entertainment facilities on the premises.

Internet access is free throughout the property. The lift operates from 07:00 to 23:00, and some rooms require stair access. Luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out, allowing free exploration of the city. Paid services include a shuttle service, laundry and ironing, babysitting/child services, and meeting/banquet facilities. A fax/photocopying service is also available. Pets are allowed on request with possible charges. The reception staff provide detailed instructions for navigating the ZTL zone and parking, and will help explain the available parking options. There is no on-site restaurant, spa, or swimming pool.
