BORGO GRONDAIE, Siena

Borgo Grondaie sits on the northern edge of Siena, a 25-30 minute walk from Piazza del Campo via the new escalator near the station. The train station is a 10-15 minute walk, giving direct access to Florence and other Tuscan towns. A bus stop is just 200 m from the property, and taxis cost around €10 to the centre. The location feels countryside-peaceful while keeping the city reachable without a car - the Coop supermarket 200 m away and Pam 700 m away make self-catering simple.

Breakfast must be ordered the evening before by 20:00 via a personalised menu - choose from espresso, cappuccino (with whole/soy/lactose-free milk), orange juice, croissants, Tuscan breads, homemade cakes, cold cuts (ham, prosciutto, salami), Val d'Orcia cheeses, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, porridge, and gluten-free options. Served 07:30-10:00 in the cosy breakfast room with fireplace, on the outdoor terrace in warm weather, or delivered to your room/apartment. There is no restaurant - self-cater in your kitchenette or use the barbecue area. The bar is open daily for coffee, cocktails, and wine, with picnic baskets available for day trips.

The outdoor saltwater pool (May-October, 08:00-20:00, 1.40 m deep) is the centrepiece - fenced, with panoramic views, free pool towels, and loungers. Bicycles are free to borrow; e-bike rentals (€40/day) and guided tours of the Via Francigena, Chianti, or Sienese countryside are available. A play area with ping-pong and foosball, board games, and a barbecue zone add leisure. On-site massages (€70/hour, by appointment) and outdoor fitness sessions (Pilates/functional training) can be arranged. The 4-hectare gardens with olive trees provide a calm retreat for walks and picnics.

Wi-Fi coverage is strong throughout the property (dedicated hotspots per apartment/floor). Self-service laundry (€3.50/token, detergent €0.50) is open 24/7. Parking is free, private, and reservation-free, though on busy days spaces can fill - arriving early helps. Luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out. Concierge services arrange taxis (approx. €10 to centre), e-bike rentals, and local tours. Safe deposit box, 24-hour security, and key access provide reassurance. There is no lift, and rooms require steps to enter - notify the property if mobility access is needed. Express check-in/out and invoice provision are standard.
