ESSENCE HOTEL, Florence

The hotel sits on a quiet residential street facing a park, roughly 15-20 minutes on foot from Santa Maria Novella station and 10 minutes from the Duomo. The tram to Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) stops 400m away, making car-free city access simple. Restaurants (Acquapazza, Fuoco Matto), cafés and a Carrefour market are within a 5-minute walk. The immediate area is generally safe during the day; a few visitors found some groups gathering at the park entrance in the evening, but the location is well-lit and walkable for most city trips.

The hotel occupies two floors (3rd and 4th) of a historic building and offers twin/double, triple and family rooms (max 4 people). All rooms have a private bathroom with shower, bidet, free toiletries and a hairdryer. In-room amenities include a flat-screen TV, electric kettle with tea/coffee, safe and wardrobe. The most requested rooms face the Duomo and provide direct city views, while garden-view rooms overlook the adjoining park. Upper-floor rooms are generally quieter, though the park can produce some evening noise. Mosquitoes have occasionally been noted in warmer months; packing repellent is advisable. The lift is old and can be slow, which some users find inconvenient for bulky luggage.

The hotel does not offer breakfast. Several cafés (e.g., Penta Bistrot, RE Gelato) and a bakery (Forno Gastronomia Becagli) are 0.3-0.5km away, suitable for a quick coffee and pastry. For evening meals, Acquapazza, Fuoco Matto and Al Chirola di Jimmy are all within walking distance. The central market (Mercato Centrale) is also nearby for a wider choice of food options. Most rooms have an electric kettle, allowing guests who prefer to prepare their own hot drinks.

WiFi is free throughout the hotel; signal strength is reported as average on upper floors. Luggage storage is available at reception free of charge until 18:00 on check-out day, allowing a full day of sightseeing. The laundry service is not available. Private off-site parking is offered via a partner garage 15 minutes away (€36-38 per day, including ZTL plate clearance if needed); the hotel provides a pickup service for guests arriving by car. Key-card access and a safe deposit box are provided in each room. The lift accesses the 3rd and 4th floors. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available on request.
