Chelsea Inn is on Lombard Street, a main artery leading directly to the Golden Gate Bridge (10 minutes by car) and within a 30-minute walk or 10-minute bus ride to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. The neighbourhood is known for its high safety and is filled with restaurants, boutique shops, and nightlife on nearby Chestnut and Union Streets. Public transport is excellent: bus routes stop right outside the hotel, the Hop-On Hop-Off tour bus stops at the door, and the 30 bus directly connects to Pier 27. The closest BART station is Powell Street (4 km away), reachable by taxi or bus. For those driving, the free on-site garage parking is a significant asset in this central area.

The hotel provides a variety of room configurations: King, Two Double, and Two Queen bed options. All rooms are equipped with double-pane windows, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a coffee machine, ironing facilities, and a hairdryer. Room size is notably generous, with ample closet and drawer space. Some rooms on upper floors (third floor or higher) experience less street noise and may offer partial views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Rooms facing Lombard Street can be very noisy at night due to nearby bars, so light sleepers should request an interior room upon booking (requests are considered based on availability). A refrigerator can be added to rooms (except Two Queen Bedrooms which include one by default) for an additional $5 per day. No rooms have a balcony.

The surrounding Marina district is packed with dining options within a short walk, including Mexican, French, Asian, and American cuisine, as well as a bar right across the street. For a full meal, popular restaurants such as Isa, Balboa Cafe, and Patxi's Chicago Pizza are within 0.5 km, and there are many other choices within a five-minute stroll.

The hotel's primary wellness and leisure value comes from its location. The Marina District is close to the waterfront, ideal for walking or jogging along the bay, and the Palace of Fine Arts is a 5-minute drive away.
