HAMPTON INN & SUITES CHICAGO-DOWNTOWN, Chicago

Located in the River North neighborhood, the hotel is about 1 km from the American Girl store and within a 10-minute walk to the Wrigley Building. The CTA Blue Line (Clark/Lake stop) and Red Line (Grand stop) are both a few blocks away, offering direct routes from O'Hare ($5) and Midway ($2.50) airports. A self-park garage is within 2 blocks; the area is walkable to dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops. The hotel sits immediately next to a fire station; sirens are frequent day and night, especially on lower floors.

Guestrooms are located on floors 3-12 and include a work desk, clock radio, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Some rooms connect: standard rooms can connect to suites, while suites do not connect to other suites. The property has a mix of updated and older furnishings; some units show wear such as loose lamps or worn sofa beds. Rooms on the street side, especially lower floors, can be very noisy from the adjacent fire station and traffic. A sound machine is recommended. Air conditioning is centrally controlled and may not cool below 18 °C. While some rooms have had heating noise issues, others report quiet HVAC. Bathrooms are private, with all rooms including a full bathroom. No rooms have balconies. An elevator key card is required to access guest floors for added security.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and includes a self-serve waffle station, hot items like scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes, and drinks including coffee and juice. During peak times the breakfast area can become crowded, and the service is provided on disposable plates with plastic cutlery. The hotel does not have a restaurant; however, there are many dining options within a 5-minute walk, including Weber Grill, Shaw's Crab House, RPM Italian, Eataly, and Hub 51. A minimarket on site sells snacks and beverages. The breakfast staff is noted for being friendly and attentive, keeping the area clean and refilled.

The indoor pool is open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily and is heated; pool towels and sun loungers are provided. The pool is on the smaller side but suitable for children. The 2nd-floor terrace is open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The fitness centre is free and equipped with cardio and weight machines. The hotel does not have a spa or sauna. During busy periods, the pool area can become crowded with groups. Note that pool maintenance or closures can occur; contact the hotel directly for the most current status.
