HILTON GARDEN INN SAN DIEGO DOWNTOWN/BAYSIDE, CA, San Diego

The hotel is conveniently close to San Diego International Airport (less than a 5-minute drive) and the cruise ship terminal. It sits between the waterfront and the popular Little Italy neighborhood, making it easy to walk to numerous restaurants, bars, and attractions like the Maritime Museum and the USS Midway. The trolley station is just two blocks away for car-free exploration of the Gaslamp Quarter and other districts. The area is walkable during the day but has some industrial pockets and can feel less active at night; the tram is a practical alternative for longer trips.

Rooms are described as spacious and clean, with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and tea and coffee making facilities. Many rooms offer city or harbor views, particularly from higher floors. Newly renovated, the rooms provide a practical work setup with convenient outlets. Rooms facing the train tracks can be noisy, so requesting a room on the opposite side of the building or on a higher floor is advisable for light sleepers. The hotel does not offer rooms with balconies, sofa beds, or rollaway beds.

The rooftop swimming pool is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00 and has a fence around it, making it suitable for families. It offers views over the bay. A hot tub and spacious fitness centre are also available and free for guests. The pool area includes towels and sun loungers, and happy hour is offered on-site.

Other services include express check-in/out, daily housekeeping, laundry services, and a minimarket. The hotel offers board games and travel cots for families. Accessibility features include wheelchair-accessible rooms, auditory guidance, visual aids (Braille and tactile signs), and grab rails. Pets are allowed with applicable charges. There is no airport or port shuttle service; taxis, ride-shares, and the nearby trolley are the best ways to get to and from the airport.
