HOLIDAY INN KNOXVILLE N - MERCHANT DRIVE BY IHG, Knoxville

The property sits along Merchant Drive with easy highway access, making it convenient for road trips and visits to local sports venues. The University of Tennessee, Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Knoxville Convention Center are all within a short drive. Area attractions such as Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and the Great Smoky Mountains are about 64 km away. More than 50 restaurants and cocktail lounges surround the hotel, including IHOP, Burger King, and Taco Bell within 0.5-1 km. The immediate neighbourhood has some visible homelessness, and the walkability after dark is limited; the parking lot is well lit and feels secure. Public transit and ride-shares are available, though some travellers note that Uber can be difficult to find for downtown trips.

Room types include double/double, double with sofa bed, and suite-style configurations. Beds are high and comfortable with crisp white linens. The bathroom sink is located outside the toilet/shower room in many units, which can result in the bathroom light shining directly onto the bed - a design to consider if one person rises early. Rooms have work desks, seating areas, telephones with voicemail, and carpeted floors. Some units show wear like carpet stains, pet odours, or damaged furniture, but the property has undergone recent refreshes. Street light can shine through the sheers in rooms where blackout curtains do not fully close; checking the curtain track on arrival is advisable. No balconies are offered. The overall atmosphere is practical and comfortable for short stays.

Breakfast is a paid buffet ($4.99-$9.99 per person, children 11 and under eat free) offering continental and American items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, and fresh fruit. The bar opens at 5 pm with happy hour specials and a dinner menu that includes steaks and salads. The restaurant can prepare to-go orders for guests who prefer to eat in their room. The food quality is described as good and reasonably priced, with the breakfast buffet considered a solid value despite not being complimentary. The same space serves as the breakfast room and is locked outside meal times. Multiple fast-food and casual dining options are within walking distance or a short drive.

The outdoor pool is open seasonally and comes with pool towels and a shallow end suitable for children. Some travellers have found the pool closed unexpectedly during warmer months, so calling ahead is wise. The fitness centre is free and equipped for a basic workout. A spa lounge/relaxation area is available on site. The pool and fitness areas are well maintained and clean when operational.

Free public parking is available on site (no reservation needed). The hotel offers a business centre, fax/photocopying, and meeting/banquet facilities for an additional charge. Laundry service is available for a fee, but there is no guest laundry room. The 24-hour front desk can assist with late check-ins if prior notice is given. Safety features include CCTV, key card access, and safety deposit boxes. Pets are allowed with a nightly fee of $35-$45 (up to 36 kg); inform the hotel at check-in to be placed in a pet-friendly room. Discounts are available for AARP, senior citizens, and first responders. A $50 incidental hold is placed on the card at check-in and released upon checkout. The property accepts major credit cards.
