Hostel Utopia is located on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, directly next to Dam Square, with Amsterdam Central Station just 5-9 minutes on foot. The Anne Frank House is a 7-minute walk, the Red Light District and Rembrandt House are 10-13 minutes away, and Rembrandtplein is 1 km from the property. Schiphol Airport is 16 km away and reachable by train or bus. A tram stop is outside the door, making car-free movement across the city practical. The immediate area is filled with restaurants, pubs, shops, and museums, so everything needed for a city trip is within a short walk.

Accommodation options include single, double, twin, and quadruple rooms. Many rooms have shared bathrooms (toilet and shower on the floor), while quadruple rooms offer a private bathroom. All rooms include a washbasin, free bed linen, and towels. WiFi is free but may be weak on the top floor. The stairs are steep and narrow, making luggage movement challenging. Rooms are small and basic, with limited storage (no wardrobes or bedside tables). Windows may face a wall in some rooms, reducing natural light. Noise from the street, the coffee shop downstairs, and other doors is common. The twin and double rooms are on the 1st floor and the single rooms on the 3rd floor.

The hostel does not offer breakfast, but tea and coffee making facilities are available in the building, along with vending machines and a bar. The location is surrounded by numerous restaurants, cafés, and bars within a 2-3 minute walk, including options such as Oud Holland, Tales & Spirits, and Famous Burger. The ground-floor coffee shop 'The Plug' is a well-known venue for cannabis products. For those needing a full meal, the surrounding streets offer a wide variety of dining choices within a 5-minute walk.
