HOTEL BIJOU ROOF TERRACE, Florence

The hotel is situated on the third floor of a historic building in the heart of Florence's historic centre. Santa Maria Novella Station is within a 5-minute walk, providing easy rail connections across the city and to the airport. Major attractions like the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, and Piazza della Signoria are all within a 10-to-15-minute walk. The area has a lively street scene with convenience stores, supermarkets, and several restaurants and cafés within a 5-minute radius. The surrounding streets can feel less safe late at night, with some reports of homeless presence. Public transport access is strong via the train station, and the walkable location means car use is unnecessary for visitors.

The accommodation includes double, family, and quadruple rooms, each featuring air conditioning, heating, a tea and coffee maker, a flat-screen TV, a wardrobe, a safe deposit box, and a private bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Some rooms have a private balcony. Room size varies; many standard rooms are compact, with limited floor space for luggage and movement. Some rooms on the third floor are accessed via a secondary set of stairs after the lift. Soundproofing between rooms and from corridors is limited; rooms near the breakfast area can be noisier in the morning. Windows in some rooms lack effective blackout curtains. The building shows signs of age, but some rooms are recently renovated with modern bathrooms. The lift is small and vintage, requiring manual closing of two doors.

The roof terrace offers sweeping views over Florence's skyline, including the Duomo, and is furnished with outdoor seating. It is accessible to guests at all hours and serves as a quiet space for morning coffee, sunset watching, or evening relaxation. No swimming pool, spa, or wellness centre is available. Live sports events are broadcast via a connected off-site service. The terrace is well-maintained but can sometimes feel neglected in terms of greenery.
