HOTEL CONDAL, Salamanca

The hotel is on a relatively quiet plaza yet within easy walking distance of all major sights: Plaza Mayor (3 min), Casa de las Conchas, and the shopping district on Gran Vía. The bus station is a 20-minute walk away, and the train station is about 25 minutes on foot. Numerous bars, restaurants, and theatres are within 0.5 km. The area feels safe and is ideal for exploring the city on foot. For drivers, a public parking garage (approx. €15-16/day) is directly opposite the hotel; motorbikes are also accepted. No airport shuttle is available.

Rooms are basic and functional, with en-suite bathrooms (shower or bathtub with shower). Bed sizes vary; some double beds are narrow for two people. The property shows its age in decor and furnishings, but cleanliness is generally maintained. Sound insulation between rooms and from the street is limited, so noise can be an issue, especially on weekend nights when the plaza area is lively. Higher floors tend to be quieter and offer better views. Air conditioning is centrally controlled at reception-manual adjustment may not be possible. Some units have noisy AC units. Towels are thin and pillows are often very soft or hard. No minibar, balcony, or blackout curtains are standard. The building has a lift, but it can be slow during busy times.

Breakfast is offered as a continental buffet (bread, pastries, hot drinks, some cold cuts) at approx. €3.50-7.50 per person. It is not included in the room rate and must be booked separately. There is no restaurant, but the surrounding area has a wide choice of bars, cafes, and restaurants within a 3-minute walk-including La Posada, Restaurante Hotel Gran Via, and many others. The café-bar is a convenient spot for a coffee or drink throughout the day.

The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk with concierge and tour desk. Free luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out. Daily housekeeping is included and free. Express check-in/out is also free. The property is fully non-smoking and has a lift, family rooms, and heating. Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV in common areas, fire extinguishers, and key access. Payment can be made by Visa, Red 6000, Maestro, or MasterCard. Note that the room key must be left at reception each time you leave the hotel; at night, a staff member will let you in. Wi-Fi is free throughout and generally reliable.
