HOTEL NAZIONALE, Florence

The hotel sits on a busy main street in the historic centre, providing direct access to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (10 minutes on foot), Palazzo Vecchio (16 minutes), and the central market. Florence Airport is 7 km away. The surrounding area is filled with restaurants, shops, and convenience stores. The location is ideal for exploring the city on foot, and the proximity to the train station makes day trips to other cities straightforward. The street can be noisy, particularly during the day, but becomes quieter at night.

The accommodation is functional and basic, best described as a simple place to sleep rather than a full-service hotel. Rooms are set on one floor of an older building; some are compact while others are notably spacious. Each room includes a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, bidet, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Amenities include air conditioning (generally working well when activated), heating, a TV, wardrobe, and in some rooms a kettle and mini fridge. Road-facing rooms can experience traffic noise; an interior room or use of earplugs is recommended. The building has a small, slow lift that typically fits one person with luggage, but it may occasionally be out of service, requiring use of stairs. Rooms are cleaned daily with towel changes.

The hotel provides a paid breakfast service (can be arranged at booking or on-site) featuring a continental spread with fresh pastries, bread, butter, jam, and coffee or tea. The breakfast room is clean and well-stocked. For other meals, there are numerous trattorias, pizzerias, and bars within a two-minute walk, including Braciere Malatesta and Trattoria Bondi. A small convenience store and a market are also nearby for self-catering.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas, though the connection can be unstable; for reliable internet use mobile data. Daily housekeeping is included, with towel changes. Luggage storage is available before check-in (from 09:30) and after check-out (until 18:00) at no extra charge. The reception is staffed from morning until 19:00; outside these hours, self-check-in using a code is facilitated after completing an online procedure. Security features include CCTV in common areas, 24-hour security, and fire extinguishers. Cots are available on request. The building has a small lift, but it may not always be operational.
