This central location makes the hotel ideal for exploring on foot, though the surrounding streets can be lively at night.

Guest rooms at Hotel Principal vary significantly in size and layout. The smallest rooms are very compact, with a double bed accessible only from one side because it is pushed against the wall. Others are more spacious, including family rooms with a king-size bed and an additional double bed for children. Many rooms - especially those on lower floors - have no windows to the outside, relying instead on high-level vents above the door for ventilation. These vents allow noise from the corridor and patio to enter the room easily. Road-facing rooms may also pick up street noise. Air conditioning is available in select rooms only; if not present, a floor fan can be provided. All rooms include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom. Towels are changed daily and rooms are cleaned each day. The architecture features high ceilings and an attractive hacienda-style interior courtyard, which adds character but contributes to the overall sound carrying.
