Hotel Zindel sits in the vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood, surrounded by more than a dozen restaurants (Harumama Noodles, Civico 1845, Barbusa, and others within 0.5 km) and within walking distance of the marina, the USS Midway Museum, and Balboa Park. The hotel is 2 km from San Diego International Airport (a 7-10 minute drive or a short rideshare). The area is excellent for walking, with the Saturday farmers' market and many bars and cafés just steps away. However, the hotel is on a busy corner directly under the airport flight path and adjacent to a freeway on-ramp, so road and aircraft noise is constant. Earplugs are supplied. There is no on-site parking; street parking is limited and paid lots are a 2-10 minute walk.

Room types include Queen Classic (private bathroom), King Classic (private bathroom, often with kitchenette), King Economy and Queen Economy (shared bathrooms only), as well as suites with separate living and sleeping areas and a sofa bed. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee maker, ceiling fan, safe, and hairdryer. The double room and some apartments include a kitchen (fridge, microwave, stovetop) and seating area. Room measurements are compact: the Queen Classic is approximately 13' x 13', suitable for one person but tight for two. There are no drawers, limited shelving, and no inside deadbolt (only a latch). Some rooms have a portable air conditioner/heater. Bathroom space is small, with little counter storage and no outlets. Noise from adjacent rooms and the street is common. Linen and mattresses are clean and comfortable (memory-foam feel in many beds).

The hotel does not operate a restaurant or serve breakfast. A communal kitchen in the game room provides a Keurig coffee machine, tea, packaged snacks (e.g., granola bars, chips), and basic breakfast items such as muffins and pastries. This is a self-service area for all guests. Because the property is in the heart of Little Italy, more than ten casual and fine-dining restaurants - including Harumama Noodles, Landini's Pizzeria, Barbusa, and Civic 1845 - are within a two-minute walk. The Saturday farmers' market on India Street offers fresh produce and prepared food. A weekend complimentary wine hour is sometimes available in the common area.

The hotel provides a game room with a billiards table, books, and a common kitchen where guests can prepare light meals or hot drinks. The courtyard features fire pits and outdoor seating, often used in the evenings. These areas are self-service and accessible to all guests.
