ITO RYOKAN, Tokyo

The ryokan sits on a quiet street within a traditional commercial area lined with local shops, cafes, and restaurants. Suitengumae Station (Hanzomon Line) is a 4-5 minute walk, providing direct lines to both Haneda (40-50 min) and Narita (via Ningyocho Station) airports. Ningyocho Station offers access to the Asakusa Line and Hibiya Line, making Ueno, Akihabara, and Tokyo Station easily reachable. The immediate neighbourhood is known for its many authentic restaurants, including Imahan Honten, Tamahide, and Ramen Tsukemen Menyamara, all within a 5-minute walk. The Amazake Yokocho Shopping Street is 200 metres away, and Suginomori Shrine is 700 metres away.

Rooms are located in either the original building (authentic feel, thinner walls) or the newer annex (more modern and spacious). All units are air-conditioned and feature tatami floors, a wardrobe, safe, electric kettle, and a flat-screen TV with streaming services. Private bathrooms (with bath/shower, bidet, hairdryer) are available in quadruple, twin, triple, single rooms, and suites; some rooms in the main building have shared bathroom facilities. The Japanese-style quadruple room is particularly spacious, sleeping four on comfortable futons. The suite includes a kitchen with stovetop, refrigerator, and dishwasher, plus a dining area with inner courtyard views. The single room is located upstairs (second floor) and has a private bathroom. The neighbourhood is quiet, and road-facing rooms are not especially noisy, but light sleepers may prefer rooms away from the common areas.

The Japanese breakfast is widely considered a highlight of the stay, featuring fresh, home-cooked items such as miso soup, grilled fish, rice, pickles, and salad. It is served in a quiet dining area, and the staff will send a confirmation form one week before arrival to select a preferred time. The property does not have its own restaurant or bar, but a shared lounge with complimentary coffee, tea, and a microwave is available. There is also a Japanese omakase restaurant between the main building and the annex that may accept walk-in requests from ryokan guests. The surrounding neighbourhood is filled with excellent local restaurants and cafes, all within a few minutes' walk.

The ryokan can arrange cooking classes, live music performances, and tours or classes about local culture for an additional charge. A shared bath and bathtub are available on the second floor. Tattoos are accepted in the shared shower and bath. The surrounding Ningyocho district is ideal for self-guided walks, with traditional shopping streets, shrines, and a safe, quiet residential atmosphere.

All areas have free Wi-Fi. A complimentary laundry facility is available. Luggage storage is free on the day of check-out but only until 22:00; bags cannot be left before check-in day. Daily housekeeping is included. The property offers a shared lounge/TV area with complimentary coffee and tea. Safety features include 24-hour security, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, key card access, and safety deposit boxes. Concierge service is available for restaurant recommendations and bookings.
