The hotel sits in the heart of Little Italy, placing guests within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. The Saturday farmers market sets up right outside the front door. The Coaster train station (Santa Fe) is less than a kilometre away, providing rail service to beach cities between San Diego and Oceanside. The San Diego Zoo is a 10-minute drive, and the airport is about a $20-25 Uber ride. The ferry port to Coronado is roughly 1 km. Street parking (free and metered) is available, as are several parking lots within a few blocks.

Standard single queen rooms are compact but functional, ideal for short stays. Double queen rooms are available for those needing two beds. Each room includes air conditioning, heating, a hairdryer, and a work desk. There are no closets; storage is provided by a dresser and hooks. Some rooms offer city views. The bathrooms have showers only-no tubs. A/C units can be noisy, and rooms facing the street may pick up evening and early-morning noise. Accessibility rooms are available but have tight turning spaces. No rooms have balconies. For a quieter stay, request a room away from the road.

Mr. Moto offers pizza and Italian dishes with a local, organic twist. Caffe Italia serves Lavazza coffee, cappuccino, espresso, and at lunchtime offers made-to-order salads and Italian panini. Both are on the bottom floor. The hotel itself does not provide breakfast, but Caffe Italia opens at 7:00 am. A coffee house on site is also noted. With the hotel's central Little Italy location, dozens of restaurants are within a short walk, including seafood, Italian, and casual eateries.

The fitness centre is equipped for basic workouts; some guests note it could benefit from additional free weights. There is no swimming pool or spa (spa services were discontinued). The outdoor courtyard with seating and an outdoor fireplace offers a place to relax. The lively Little Italy neighbourhood itself provides plenty of entertainment, dining, and shopping within walking distance.

WiFi is free but can be unreliable on upper floors and is not password-protected. Luggage storage is complimentary for early arrivals or late departures. A business centre with fax/photocopying is free. The lift serves all four floors, and there is level entry from India Street. Safety features include CCTV, smoke alarms, and a safety deposit box. Irons are available on request. Housekeeping is not automatic; you must request it at the front desk if daily service is desired. The hotel is non-smoking throughout and does not accept pets.
