MARKETS HOTEL, Sydney

The hotel is immediately adjacent to the Sydney Markets, which become active from midnight. Train station is a 10-minute walk through the markets. Qudos Bank Arena, Accor Stadium, and Engie Stadium are all within a 20- to 25-minute walk - making this a strategic base for events at Sydney Olympic Park. Free on-site parking is available, and street parking is possible. For the airport, a taxi or Uber is recommended. The neighbourhood is a mix of commercial and industrial, with a few cafes right outside the hotel.

Rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, electric kettle, tea/coffee facilities, mini fridge, ironing facilities, and a private entrance. The bathroom setup places the hand basin in the main room rather than inside the bathroom, which some may find impractical. All rooms are upstairs with no lift access. Some rooms back directly onto the markets, resulting in significant noise from early-morning setup and Parramatta Road traffic. Road-facing rooms are also affected. The property is older and basic in style, with some reports of dated finishes, but the sleep quality is generally considered good value for the price.

Markets Hotel's bistro is open for lunch and dinner daily (11:30-14:30 and 17:00-21:00) and is the primary dining option. It offers well-priced, well-regarded meals including lamb shank, wagyu beef burger, and weekly specials. There is also a bar with happy hour $5 beers and cheap cocktails. Breakfast is not served at the hotel; several excellent cafes are located immediately next door. For other nearby options, Memo's Pizza & Kebab is 0.5 km away, Mithu's Restaurant is 1 km away, and Mad Mex is 2 km away.

The hotel offers a garden, billiards tables, a casino, and live music/performances on select evenings. A massage chair is available in the wellness area. There is no gym, pool, or spa, so leisure is limited to pub-style amenities within the venue.

The hotel provides free luggage storage, an ATM on site, a vending machine for snacks, and a barber/beauty shop. Business services include free fax/photocopying and ironing service. Accessibility features include accessible parking, but there is no lift to the upper-floor rooms. Check-in is from 14:00, with reception available until 3am. The property is non-smoking throughout, has a designated smoking area, and security features include CCTV, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and key access. No laundry facilities on site, but a paid pick-up/drop-off service is available. Payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and most major cards.
