MOVIE COLONY HOTEL - ADULTS ONLY, Palm Springs

The hotel sits in the heart of Palm Springs, just a 5-10 minute walk from downtown's main dining, shopping, and entertainment strip along Palm Canyon Drive. Palm Springs Art Museum is a 15-minute walk away, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is a 15-minute drive. Palm Springs International Airport is 4 km from the property. The immediate area is walkable for most evening and daytime activities, with easy access to hiking at Tahquitz Canyon and golf at Escena Golf Club (both a short drive). The property is directly on Indian Canyon Drive, a main road, so rooms facing the street experience continuous traffic noise; quieter rooms at the back or facing the courtyard are recommended for light sleepers.

Accommodation options include Standard King rooms near the courtyard and pool, Deluxe King rooms with private patios and garden views, King Suites with separate living areas and sofa sleepers (first-floor or two-story options), and Double Queen Suites that are bi-level with two queen beds, a sofa sleeper, and San Jacinto Mountain views from a private terrace. All rooms feature air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, closets with iron and ironing board, and modern furnishings with a mid-century aesthetic. Rooms are clean and spacious, but the property is older and showing some wear: air conditioning units can be loud, and the building is not well-insulated against street noise. Rooms facing the road are significantly noisier than those at the back. Upper-level rooms and suites offer more privacy and a quieter stay.

Breakfast includes fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins, bagels, and pastries, with self-serve coffee. It is served from around 9:00 AM; earlier starts may not have the full buffet set up. The breakfast area is located in the lobby without dedicated seating, which some find cramped. The afternoon happy hour (typically 4:00-5:00 PM) offers wine, sparkling wine, cheese, and crackers, providing an opportunity to socialize. There is no on-site restaurant or bar; lunch is available poolside from Iluminara Restaurant (tacos are a popular choice). Numerous dining options are within a 5-10 minute walk, including El Mirasol, Workshop Kitchen + Bar, and Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge.

The 200 m² pool deck features a heated chlorine pool with a shallow end, a hot tub (open 7:00 AM-10:00 PM), and sun loungers with pool towels provided. The pool is open year-round from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. An outdoor fire pit and seating areas create a relaxed, social atmosphere. The hot tub seats five people and is a highlight for evening relaxation. The courtyard has a mid-century feel and is well-maintained, though some have noted the pool area can occasionally need debris removal. Hiking is available within a short drive, with Tahquitz Canyon offering self-guided trails and a 18 m waterfall. The property is adults-only, ensuring a calm and quiet environment.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Parking is included in the $23 resort fee and is available on site without reservation; overflow parking exists at the sister property next door. The front desk is staffed during daytime hours; after 5:00 PM, check-in and assistance are handled at the Triada hotel next door. Luggage storage is available free of charge. Concierge service can provide local recommendations. Accessibility features include wheelchair-accessible rooms with roll-in showers and grab bars, as well as reserved parking. Safety features include key card access, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and a safety deposit box. Pets are allowed for a fee. The property is entirely non-smoking. Express check-in/out is offered.
