MONUMENTAL MOVIELAND HOTEL, Orlando

The hotel is directly on International Drive, placing it within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and attractions like Icon Park and the Orlando International Premium Outlets (5 km). Universal Studios Orlando is a 5-10 minute drive, and Walt Disney World is 12 km away. The I-Ride Trolley stops at the door, providing easy car-free access along the I-Drive corridor. For park access without a car, the bus stop in front connects to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Orlando International Airport is about 30 minutes away by car; no airport shuttle is available. The immediate area includes a Walgreens next door and numerous dining options within a 5-minute walk.

Standard rooms feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a private bathroom with bath and shower, and free toiletries. A microwave and small refrigerator are standard in each room, but these amenities are not consistently present, so confirming upon arrival is advisable. Some rooms have two double beds, while king rooms offer one bed. Hard flooring (no carpets) aids cleanliness, but the building is older and shows wear, with potential issues such as musty odors, non-working outlets, broken fixtures, and noise from corridors or the I-4 highway. Locks on connecting doors may not be secure. Elevators are available, and the bathroom includes emergency cords, raised toilets, and grab rails in accessible units. No rooms have balconies.

The hotel's restaurant, Restaurant #1, offers American cuisine in a family-friendly ambiance. It is open for dinner and does not serve breakfast. The area around the hotel, however, provides many alternatives: within a 5-minute walk you'll find KFC, Dairy Queen, Applebee's, Via Brasil Restaurant, Memo Cafe, and Halal Food Express. A Walgreens next door stocks snacks and essentials. The restaurant is not open for breakfast, so those wanting a morning meal will need to eat out.

The heated outdoor pool is open all year and features a shallow end, making it suitable for families. Sun loungers and beach chairs are available free of charge, and the pool area is fenced for safety. The pool is a highlight, though it shows some age; maintenance is ongoing. The arcade and game room provide indoor entertainment but may not always be open. There is no gym, spa, or wellness center at the hotel. New, larger washing machines and dryers are available for guest use.
