The neighbourhood is packed with bars, restaurants and cafés within a 1-minute stroll, including Mother India and many others. The local bus stops provide access to the city centre in 7-8 minutes, and the subway station is a 10-minute walk through Kelvingrove Park. Glasgow International Airport is within 11 km; bus route 77 stops nearby. The area is quiet at night despite being close to the city centre.

All bathrooms have been newly renovated. Single rooms are compact (approx 7x10 ft) with a shared bathroom on a different floor. Twin and triple rooms are larger and well-suited for groups. Some rooms have been recently refurbished. Windows are present in rooms (some face the road; road-facing rooms may pick up street noise). There is no air conditioning, and rooms with high ceilings can take time to heat. Lower-floor and basement rooms may feel darker. The property has no lift so rooms are accessible via stairs (3 flights to top floor). Request a ground-floor room when booking if needed.

A cooked Scottish breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:15 at the Sandyford Hotel, a 1-2 minute walk from the lodge. Continental options are also part of the same buffet. The breakfast is prepared fresh and is considered good value for the price. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but the surrounding area on Sauchiehall Street is packed with eateries - from Indian (Mother India) to seafood (Crabshakk) and many others within a few minutes' walk.
