SCALA APARTMENT, Florence

Scala Apartment is positioned in the real heart of Florence, just a few minutes' walk from Santa Maria Novella train station and the tram line that connects directly to Florence Airport (8 km). The city's top attractions are all within a 15-minute stroll, including the Duomo (12 minutes), Palazzo Vecchio (8 minutes), the Uffizi Gallery (15 minutes), and Strozzi Palace (700 metres). The Fortezza da Basso Convention Center is 1 km away. The immediate area is busy with foot traffic, and street-facing rooms can experience significant noise from traffic and passers-by; garden-facing rooms are noticeably quieter. A supermarket, a launderette, and several restaurants are within a 2-minute walk, making self-catering and eating out equally convenient.

Rooms are notably large and clean, with tiled floors, air conditioning, heating, a work desk, and a flat-screen TV. Each room includes a coffee machine, electric kettle, dining table, wardrobe, and free toiletries. A bidet and hairdryer are provided in the shared bathroom. Room types include family rooms (2 beds), triple rooms (2 beds), twin/double rooms (1 bed), and twin rooms. Some rooms offer garden or courtyard views and are significantly quieter than those facing the street. Noise from other rooms and the corridor can be audible, and earplugs are provided in street-facing rooms. The lack of a private bathroom means locking the room each time the shared facilities are used. Window blinds do not fully block morning light. The stairwell is steep and poorly lit with motion-sensor lights that are not reliable.

Scala Apartment does not have a restaurant. A shared kitchen is available with a microwave, electric kettle, dining table, refrigerator, and kitchenware; the cooker is not usable for safety reasons. The host sometimes provides pastries, jam, and tea. Breakfast availability depends on the selected rate plan - check your booking details. At least eight restaurants and cafés are within a 300-metre radius, including Trattoria da Giorgio, Ristorante Belcore, and Panificio Pasticceria Lanotte. The shared kitchen is suitable for heating prepared food and making hot drinks but not for full cooking.

Scala Apartment does not have a swimming pool, spa, or wellness centre. For leisure and relaxation, guests can explore Florence's historic centre, including Piazza del Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Boboli Gardens, all within walking distance. The nearby Mercato Centrale offers a vibrant food market and casual dining in a lively setting. The apartment's position near the train station also provides easy access to day trips in Tuscany.

Free WiFi is available throughout. The shared bathroom and kitchen are cleaned daily, and rooms are kept clean. Luggage storage can be arranged with the host, but it is not automatic before check-in - confirm this in advance by message or phone. The host is responsive and helpful via WhatsApp. Reception staff speak Italian. Laundry facilities are available at a launderette directly opposite the Scala Apartment building. The building is secure, with CCTV in common areas and fire extinguishers. City tax is payable in cash only at check-in. No private bathroom, no parking, no elevator, and no airport shuttle are offered.
