SMART STAY SHIZUKU UENO EKIMAE, Tokyo

The hotel is in the heart of Ueno, a vibrant district. Ueno Station (JR and metro) is a 3-minute walk, providing access to lines across Tokyo. Keisei Ueno Station is also steps away, offering direct Skyliner and Sky Access trains to Narita Airport in about 40 minutes, making this a perfect base for airport connections. The Ameyoko market street, with numerous restaurants, izakayas, and shops, is a stone's throw away. Ueno Park, the Ueno Zoo, and museums like the Shitamachi Museum and Ueno Royal Museum are within a 3-15 minute walk. Haneda Airport is 22 km away; last trains depart around 23:48, so late arrivals will need a taxi. Guests consistently highlight the convenience of this location for both sightseeing and transit.

The accommodation is in private capsules within gender-separated floors. Each capsule is designed with good headroom, a thick curtain for privacy, a lockable storage cupboard suitable for a backpack, and a safe inside the capsule area. The capsule bed is comfortable for a budget hotel, though the pillows are noted as thick. A fan is provided, but air conditioning can make the capsule feel warm when the curtain is closed; keeping it slightly open helps regulate temperature. Daily housekeeping provides fresh linen and towels, which are left at the foot of the bed. Noise levels can vary, with some guests reporting disturbances from others, so light sleepers may benefit from earplugs. No refrigerator is available in the capsule.

The basement houses a traditional Japanese sento with a large hot bath, a cold plunge bath, and a spacious sauna. It is a clean and well-maintained facility free of charge for all guests. The onsen opens from 5:00 AM to 2:00 AM, offering plenty of time for relaxation after a day of sightseeing. The facility also includes a changing area and showers. The lounge on the ground floor features comfortable reclining chairs, massage chairs, and a selection of manga, providing a quiet space to unwind. This is a standout feature for a capsule hotel, especially for solo travelers looking to wind down.
