STF ZINKENSDAMM HOSTEL, Stockholm

The hostel sits on the vibrant Södermalm island, right beside Tantolunden Park which has open lawns, a mini golf course and a small sand beach. Hornstull Metro Station is a 5-minute walk, giving direct rail connections to Stockholm city centre (a few stops). Shops, bars and restaurants are within a short walk around the corner. The area is peaceful despite being close to a lively district. For airport access, the Flygbussar shuttle stops at Hornstull (10-minute walk) and costs about 248 SEK round trip. The neighbourhood feels safe, and the park paths along the waterfront are popular for walking and jogging.

Choices range from private rooms for 1-2 persons (some with a double bed or two single beds) to dormitories with 4 beds. Rooms with a private bathroom come with a flat-screen TV and cable channels, while standard rooms use well-maintained shared facilities with multiple shower stalls and toilets. Room size is compact, particularly when fully occupied, and some rooms have metal-framed bunk beds. Darkening curtains help with sleep. Bottom bunks can be reserved on request. Personal lockers are available in all hostel rooms and do not require a padlock. Road-facing rooms may hear noise during local events. Light sleepers may want earplugs for occasional late-night sounds from common areas.

Breakfast is a paid buffet featuring freshly baked bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, and hot drinks - a solid value. The on-site restaurant Zinkadus Bar & Café serves light dishes during the day and a dinner menu of Swedish specialities in the evening. A kiosk next to reception offers cold drinks and sandwiches around the clock. The bar area also sells snacks and bottled drinks. The sauna can be booked for private use, providing a relaxing retreat. Tantolunden Park, right next door, has a mini golf course, large grassy areas, a children's playground, and a small sand beach for swimming in summer. Bicycle rental is offered on site for exploring Stockholm at your own pace. The waterside paths around the island are ideal for running or cycling. Board games are available, and a children's playroom is located next to the communal kitchen. A nearby playground with swings and slides is within walking distance.
