SUPER 8 BY WYNDHAM CALGARY SHAWNESSY AREA, Calgary

The hotel sits in a convenient south Calgary location right off McLeod Trail, a major artery. The C-train station is an 8-10 minute walk away, providing direct access to downtown. Walmart and many restaurants are within walking distance, making it easy to grab supplies or a meal without driving. Spruce Meadows equestrian facility, Fish Creek Provincial Park, and Southcentre Mall are all a short drive away. The property is about 20 km from Calgary city centre and roughly 1.5 hours from Banff. Parking is free but requires a reservation; the lot can feel cramped for larger vehicles.

Rooms range from standard doubles to quadruple rooms with private bathrooms. Each unit is equipped with air conditioning, heating, ironing facilities, a work desk, and a flat-screen TV with cable. Some rooms feature a separate living area or bunk beds. The property is older and furnishings show wear-dated decor, worn carpets, and occasional maintenance issues such as noisy AC units or non-functional fridges have been noted. Road-facing rooms on McLeod Trail can experience traffic noise; light sleepers may prefer an interior or upper-floor room. Rooms are generally clean but vary in condition. No rooms have balconies.

The indoor swimming pool is open daily 09:00-22:00 and includes a waterslide, making it a highlight for families. Pool towels are provided. The fitness centre is basic but functional. The hot tub has been closed for renovations (expected reopening May 2025). The pool area can be noisy due to children and is visible from the lobby. Leisure facilities are available only for registered hotel guests.
