SURESTAY HOTEL BY BEST WESTERN SANTA MONICA, Santa Monica

The hotel sits on Pico Boulevard, a major thoroughfare, which means traffic noise is a factor for street-facing rooms. McCabe's Guitar Shop is directly across the street. Within a short walk are Mexican, American, Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, Indian, Pakistani restaurants, and fast food. The #7 bus stop is across the street and one block toward the ocean, offering a $1 ride to the beach and Santa Monica Pier. The Pier is about 4 km away, and driving is recommended due to paid public parking. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 16 km away, about a 15-30 minute drive depending on traffic. The immediate area is quiet and safe at night.

Room types include double rooms with one bed, quadruple rooms with two queen beds, and suites with a hot tub. Some rooms feature kitchenettes with refrigerators, microwaves, and gas stoves. Courtyard rooms are quieter and often larger. Some rooms have sinks located in the bedroom rather than the bathroom. Street-facing rooms can be very noisy from traffic, making them less suitable for light sleepers. Thin walls mean noise from neighbouring rooms and above is common. A few rooms are partially below grade with small windows. Renovations have been done, but some rooms may still feel dated with uneven floors and older carpets. Air conditioning units can be noisy. Safe deposit boxes are available at reception, not in rooms.

Breakfast is served in a modest room and includes bread, bagels, butter, jam, fruit (bananas), and a pancake machine. Gluten-free bread is available. There are no hot protein options like eggs or bacon. The selection is basic but adequate for a quick start to the day. Since there is no restaurant, guests need to plan lunch and dinner out. A Trader Joe's grocery store is right next door, and dozens of restaurants (Mexican, Italian, Asian, American, etc.) are within a half-mile walk. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are available on site.

The hotel does not offer a swimming pool, spa, or gym on site. For leisure, the main feature is the courtyard in the third building, which has comfortable lounge chairs, tables, barbecue facilities, and a sun terrace. It is a secure, pleasant space for relaxing, eating takeout, or using the grills. The area is quiet and safe for evening outdoor time. Penmar Golf Course and the Santa Monica Museum of Art are within 3 km.
