The hotel sits on the main Newtown strip, surrounded by cafes, bars, vintage shops, and restaurants within a short walk. St Peters station is right next door, offering direct trains to Sydney Airport in under 10 minutes and to Central Station in 5-10 minutes. Newtown station is a 5-minute walk, and buses to Glebe, Coogee, Sydney University, and St Alfred's Hospital stop right outside. Sydney Park and the Enmore Theatre are a short stroll away. The area is lively but the accommodation is surprisingly quiet.

Rooms are efficiently designed with a flat-screen TV, electric kettle with tea and coffee, desk, wardrobe, and carpeted floors. The Superior King room is on King Street (a main road), while queen and double rooms are on the side street - quieter for light sleepers. All rooms share well-maintained bathrooms and toilets in the hallway. There is no air conditioning, but each room has a fan and a heater. Guests consistently describe the beds as very comfortable and the rooms as spotless. Despite being above a pub and near a railway line, the insulation is excellent and noise is not an issue. Ear plugs are provided for extra peace of mind.

The hotel's own pub serves excellent food and drinks, with the bistro open until 9pm (hours may vary). Room service is available directly from the pub menu. The bar offers wine, champagne, and a snack bar. Special dietary meals can be prepared on request. A shared kitchen with a microwave, stove, kettle, coffee machine, and utensils is available for guest use. The surrounding Newtown area is packed with dining options, including Italian, Thai, pizza, and Indian cuisine - all within a 5-minute walk.
