THE BEE HOSTEL, Amsterdam

The hostel is located at Plantage Kerklaan 19, just outside the busy tourist area. Tram 14 stops directly outside (Artis stop), connecting to Central Station in minutes. The area is safe, residential, and dotted with cafes and restaurants within a short walk. Schiphol Airport is 16 km away; reachable by train to Central Station then tram 14. Major landmarks such as Royal Theater Carré, Rembrandt House, and Dam Square are within walking distance or a quick tram ride. Parking is not available, so public transport or walking is the most practical way to get around.

The hostel offers mixed dorms with 12, 16, 18, or 24 beds, and a 20-bed female-only dorm on the ground floor. Each bunk has a comfortable mattress, clean linen, and a towel supplied on arrival. Air conditioning and heating are available. Bathroom facilities are shared per floor: typically 2 toilets, 2 showers, and 2 sinks for up to 24 people, which can lead to queues during peak times. Showers have full-length doors for privacy. Lockers are large enough for a carry-on bag but not for full-sized suitcases; larger luggage may need to be stored in corridors or in the free luggage storage. Noise can travel from the stairwell and dorm doors, so light sleepers may benefit from earplugs.

The Bee Hostel does not have a full restaurant or communal kitchen. A small breakfast option is available for purchase, consisting of coffee and pre-made sandwiches, though service can be slow during busy times. The bar offers a range of drinks and snacks. For a fuller meal, the surrounding area has many restaurants within a 1-3 minute walk, including Italian, pizza, and Asian options. Guests can also use the fridge and oven for basic food storage and reheating.

Bike hire is offered at a competitive rate, allowing guests to explore Amsterdam easily. Organised activities include bike tours, pub crawls, and walking tours, all for an extra charge. A complimentary happy hour provides a social opportunity. Board games are available in the small shared lounge. There is no gym, pool, or spa on site.

WiFi is free in all rooms. The 24-hour front desk handles check-in, security, and guest queries. Security features include CCTV, smoke alarms, keycard access, and lockers. Daily housekeeping cleans common areas; dorms are not serviced, but fresh linen is available on request. Laundry service is offered for an additional charge.
