THE MADHOUSE PRAGUE, Prague

The Madhouse sits on a central street steps from Národní třída metro station and tram stops, making it effortless to reach all major sights on foot or by public transport. Charles Bridge is a 12-minute walk away, Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock are within 800 metres, and Prague Castle (2 km) is a pleasant walk or short tram ride. Václav Havel Airport is 13 km away. The immediate area is packed with restaurants, shops, and supermarkets, and the hostel is located directly above a large shopping centre.

The Madhouse offers only mixed dormitories (ages 18-45) - no private rooms are available. Each dorm has its own private bathroom with a shower and toilet, plus two additional downstairs unisex bathrooms. Bunks are sturdy with privacy curtains, and each bed comes with a towel and sheets included. The room layout provides more privacy than typical hostel dorms. Common areas include a spacious shared kitchen, a lounge/TV area, and lockers for each bed (bring your own padlock or buy one). The property is well-maintained and cleaned regularly, though en-suite bathrooms are shared among up to 14 people per dorm.

The Madhouse runs a nightly family dinner prepared by the staff, which is very cheap and a popular way to meet other travellers before heading out. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, spices, and free cereal and coffee available all day - ideal for budget self-catering. The hostel also has a small bar where you can buy beer on-site. The immediate neighbourhood offers dozens of restaurants, from Italian to Asian, all within a 5-minute walk, and the hostel staff can recommend spots for sightseeing and eating.

The Madhouse is built around social programming. Every day there are free planned activities - from daytime walking tours of the city to evening pub crawls and clubbing trips run by the staff and volunteers. The hostel also has board games, a lounge/TV area, and organises creative games after dinner. For those who prefer quieter leisure, the property is located near several parks and green spaces within easy walking distance.

The Madhouse provides free Wi-Fi in the common areas (signal strength can vary, but generally works well). Luggage storage is free and available both before check-in and after check-out, giving you the freedom to explore the city unencumbered. A locker is provided for each bed, and padlocks can be rented (with a deposit) or bought for 100 CZK. Laundry is available for an additional charge. The reception is open from 08:30 to midnight, and staff are on-hand to help with maps, tour bookings, and local advice. The property has key-card access, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers for safety. Board games and a shared lounge/TV area round out the services.
