THE PIRATE HAUS INN, St. Augustine

The Pirate Haus Inn, located in St. Augustine's Historic District, is home to Spanish-Colonial landmarks like the 1600s Castillo de San Marcos, overlooking Matanzas Bay, and the González-Alvarez House. Pirate Jenny and a team of volunteers run this family-friendly budget guesthouse. Please be aware that we are on the second floor of a historic building and have no handicap access. All guests must be able to walk up a flight of stairs. In order to ensure that everyone gets a good night's sleep, NO LOUD PARTIES OR BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE PARTIES ALLOWED.

The Pirate Haus Inn offers six private guest rooms. Room 8, named the Captain's Quarters, is the largest room, featuring a King size bed, three sets of bunk beds, a private bathroom, and a mini-fridge. It has a ceiling fan, central heat/AC, and an extra mobile A/C unit. Room 6, the Jungle Room, has jungle scenes covering all walls and is equipped with a King bed, one set of bunk beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge, a ceiling fan, and heat/AC. Room 2 has a set of bunk beds. Room 11, the Tropical Fish Room, is painted with ocean scenes and coral.

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, coffee, and tea are available. Guests can use the kitchen to cook breakfast after 9:30 AM. Also, guests have a choice of 50 imported beers, cappuccino and espresso. Nearby restaurants include Pizzalley/The Chianti Room on St George Street and Charlotte Street, Casa Maya serving authentic Mexican food from the Yucatan on Hypolita, Ned's Southside Diner across from Walmart on Highway 1 South, Metro Diner on the corner of Highway 1 and 207, CRAVE food truck on Riberia, and The Back 40 Cafe on South Dixie Highway.

Guests can watch nightly movies in the common living area, which includes toys and games for children. Free Wi-Fi (WPA-2) is available. Guests have free use of the house guitar if they are musically inclined. Swimming is available at The Willie Gallimore center (South end of Riberia street) that has a small swimming pool. Guests can enjoy kayaking in the bay and intracoastal waterway, which is a popular way to see dolphins and manatees.

The shopping on St George Street is less than 1 mile from the St Augustine Pirate Haus. The neighborhood of Davis Shores, just across the Bridge of Lions, is popular with joggers. The Pirate Haus Inn offers parking for 5 USD per day on a first-come, first-served basis. Alternatively, a free parking pass for the City Parking Garage on 1 Cordova Street (3 blocks away) is available. This is a magnetic pass that you swipe at a reader when entering AND exiting the garage. Laundry service is available for $10 (guests fold). The hotel is one street over from St George Street.
