The immediate neighbourhood has a rough character with street vendors, homeless individuals, and litter, which can feel unsettling after dark - especially for solo travellers. However, the area is well-served by public transport: Château Rouge Metro (line 4) is a two-minute walk, providing direct routes to the Louvre, Saint-Germain-des-Près, and Gare du Nord. The Sacré-Coeur Basilica, Montmartre's main attraction, is a pleasant 10-minute stroll uphill. A Carrefour supermarket is adjacent to the hotel, and several bakeries and casual eateries are within a 5-minute walk. Gare du Nord is about 10-15 minutes on foot. The nearby streets, particularly Rue Custine, offer a variety of affordable dining options.

Rooms range from double rooms (one bed) to dormitory-style rooms with 4, 8, or 9 beds, all with private bathrooms featuring a shower. The standard double rooms are compact but clean, with a desk, wardrobe, and a small bathroom. Courtyard-facing rooms are significantly quieter, whereas street-facing rooms experience traffic and street noise day and night. The lift serves upper floors but can be noisy and has been described as jolty. Some rooms show signs of wear, such as peeling paint or mould in the bathroom, and the hair dryer may be underpowered. No minibar or fridge is provided. All rooms include a safe, soundproofed walls (though thinness is noted), and a flat-screen TV with cable.
