The Residence - No 8 is located under the George IV Bridge on a narrow street directly above a pub. The National Museum of Scotland is a 4-minute walk away, Edinburgh Castle is 1 km (roughly 15 minutes on foot), and the Royal Mile is 14 minutes away. Edinburgh Waverley train station is a 6-7 minute walk (0.5 km), and the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is 1 km from the property. Edinburgh Airport is 9 km away, accessible by tram or bus from the city centre. The immediate area is full of bars, pubs, and restaurants, making it lively well into the night. Finding the entrance can be tricky - it is set back in a small alley under the bridge, so following the check-in instructions carefully is advised.

The property has five rooms: four with one double bed (standard UK double, 135 x 190 cm) and one triple room with one double and one single bed. A small number of rooms have the bathroom outside the room (clearly labelled at booking); all others have an en-suite. Each room includes a private entrance, tea and coffee maker, electric kettle, hairdryer, free toiletries, carpeted floors, a wardrobe, TV, ironing facilities, and heating. No air conditioning is available. The rooms are small - the 'small double' category is notably tighter, with limited floor space for luggage. The 'standard double' is slightly larger but remains compact. Rooms above the pub experience significant noise until late, and the walls are thin, so noise from neighbouring rooms is common. Multi-night stays do not include daily cleaning, and rooms are serviced only before check-in.
