THE SPANISH SUITE VIA DI RIPETTA, Rome

The hotel sits on a lively shopping street one minute from Via del Corso, with a Carrefour Express right next door and dozens of restaurants, cafés and bars within a three-minute walk. Piazza di Spagna is 700 metres away, Trevi Fountain is a 14-minute walk, and Castel Sant'Angelo is 1 km from the property. Piazza del Popolo is six minutes on foot. The nearest airport is Rome Ciampino, 16 km away, and an airport shuttle is available for €55 one-way (up to three people). The location is well served by public transport, and many major sights are reachable entirely on foot.

Standard and superior rooms offer a private bathroom with shower, bidet and hairdryer, plus air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, wardrobe, seating area and parquet flooring. Some rooms are described as spacious and modern, while others are compact with limited storage. A minority of rooms are on the ground floor or adjacent to the reception desk, which can mean more noise. Room condition varies: some have peeling paint, worn furniture or mould, while others are newly renovated. If your stay is for more than a few days, request a room that has been recently updated. Connecting rooms are not available, but some triple rooms can be configured with three single beds on request.

Breakfast is a basic continental buffet with croissants, eggs and bacon, served at a café a short walk from the hotel. Note that the café is closed on Sundays, on which days the hotel arranges breakfast in its own kitchen. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but the surrounding streets offer a huge variety of dining options, with eight restaurants and cafés within 300 metres, including 'Gusto, Verace Sudd and Ristorante Ad Hoc.

The property does not have a swimming pool, spa, sauna or fitness centre. An ice-skating rink is in the vicinity, but the main leisure draw is the historic centre itself - guests can walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese and Piazza del Popolo in under 15 minutes.
