THE WHITEHALL HOTEL - BW PREMIER COLLECTION, Chicago

This boutique hotel sits just off the Magnificent Mile, placing the city's best shopping, dining and entertainment within a short walk. Water Tower Place, the John Hancock Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art are all less than 1 km away. Navy Pier, Millennium Park and Lincoln Park Zoo are under 3 km from the hotel. The Chicago Avenue Red Line station is a 6-minute walk, offering direct connections to Wrigley Field, the Loop and O'Hare via transfers. Self-parking is across the street at 900 Bloomingdales, and numerous restaurants including Rosebud on Rush and Hugo's Frog Bar are within a block. The area is safe and walkable, with bus stops around the corner for easy access to Shedd Aquarium and other attractions.

Each room includes luxury premium bedding with Egyptian cotton linens, a white silk duvet cover and goose feather down comforter. Bathrooms have marble floors with granite countertops, a make-up mirror and plush bathrobes. All rooms include a mini-fridge, tea/coffee maker, in-room safe, air conditioning, ironing facilities and a work desk. Windows can be opened for fresh air. TVs are Netflix- and YouTube-compatible. Electric kettles and microwaves are available on request. The property is older and shows its age; furnishings, carpets and lighting are dated, and corridor and room decor can feel worn. Road-facing Queen rooms overlook Delaware Place, while King rooms may offer limited lake views upon availability. Rooms near the elevator or adjacent to connecting doors can be noisier. The hotel is better suited to travellers prioritising location and comfort of bedding over modern decor. Housekeeping must be requested 24 hours in advance and is not automatically done daily.

The on-site Kirei restaurant offers a sleek, upscale setting with Japanese fare including sushi and Japanese steak for dinner (Mon-Sun 5-10 PM). Breakfast is served Monday-Friday 6:30-11 AM and Saturday-Sunday 7-11 AM, and includes a buffet with options such as eggs, bacon, pancakes, pastries and fresh fruit. A la carte breakfast costs between $8 and $20 per person. Happy hour runs Monday-Friday 4:30-6:30 PM. In-room dining is also available. The breakfast buffet is appreciated for its variety and quality, though at peak times replenishment can lag. Several nearby restaurants within a 5-minute walk include The Cheesecake Factory, Potbelly Sandwich Works, and others on the Magnificent Mile.

The fitness centre includes treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights and machines, and is considered above average for an urban hotel. No swimming pool, spa, hot tub or wellness centre is present on the property. The hotel does not have a pool, and the beach is accessible on foot from the central location.

Complimentary basic Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel; premium access costs $9.95 per day. Self-parking with in/out privileges is $50 per night across the street at 900 Bloomingdales, and valet parking costs $65 per night with unlimited in/out. No airport shuttle is provided. The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/out. Luggage storage is available for early arrivals or late departures. Pets (dogs only, up to 14 kg) are allowed with a $30 per night fee and must be arranged in advance. Cots are available on request. Packages can be received at no fee if the name matches the reservation. The business centre is open 24 hours. The property is non-smoking throughout.
