HOWARD WINCHESTER HOTEL, London

The hotel sits on a garden square in central London, just a three-minute walk from Kings Cross and St Pancras International for underground, national rail, and Eurostar connections. Russell Square is a ten-minute walk, the British Museum is reachable in 15 minutes on foot, and Covent Garden is a 25-minute stroll. Camden Town is 2 km away. The immediate area around the station offers a wide range of restaurants, including Nando's, Chop Chop Noodle bar, and several Indian options, all within a five-minute walk. For those arriving by car, street parking is free from 6.30pm to 8.30am and from 1.30pm Saturday to 8.30am Monday; several pay-and-display car parks are nearby. The location is the property's strongest asset, providing rapid access to all parts of London with limited need for additional transport.

Rooms are compact but spotlessly clean, with modern fittings. Single rooms are approximately 3m x 1.85m, with ceiling heights that reduce on higher floors. Private bathrooms are fitted with a shower and include complimentary soap and shower gel; some rooms have the sink located in the bedroom rather than the bathroom. All rooms provide a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, and an electric kettle. Ironing boards and irons are available from reception. The Georgian building has no lift, and corridors and staircases are narrow. The single rooms are best suited for short solo stays, especially for travellers connecting from Kings Cross. Family rooms are available and can accommodate two adults and two children. There are some ground-floor rooms for those who cannot manage stairs.

The hotel does not serve breakfast and has no restaurant or bar. However, the surrounding area at the end of the road and around Kings Cross station offers a wide range of places to eat for all meals and budgets. Options within 300 metres include La Regina, Nando's, Chop Chop Noodle bar, Euro Tandoori, Casa Mamma, and McDonald's. Many cafés and restaurants serve full English breakfasts. The hotel can also provide local recommendations on arrival.
