BOUTIQUE HOTEL ASTERISK, A FAMILY RUN HOTEL, Amsterdam

The hotel sits on a calm cobblestone street in a safe, central neighbourhood between the popular De Pijp district and the Museum Quarter. The Rijksmuseum is a 10-minute walk away, and the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, and the Heineken Experience are all within 5-15 minutes on foot. Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein are about 1 km away, and Dam Square is a 30-minute walk. The Vijzelgracht metro stop (line 52) provides direct service to Amsterdam Central Station in 2 stops and Schiphol Airport in 20-30 minutes. Tram routes are also steps away. Numerous cafés, restaurants, and grocery stores are within a few blocks, making it easy to explore without a car. The area feels safe and quiet after dark, ideal for solo travellers.

The hotel does not serve breakfast or operate a restaurant. A welcome drink is offered upon arrival, and the honesty bar provides beer, wine, and soft drinks for purchase. In the lobby, complimentary water and a small snack are available in the afternoon, and a vending machine sells snacks. For morning meals, popular neighbourhood cafés such as Locals Coffee and Coffee & Coconuts are a 5-minute walk away, and the Albert Cuyp Market (10 minutes) has fresh produce. The hotel's staff can provide personalised recommendations. There is no room service or in-room dining, and rooms lack a fridge for storing perishables.

Wellness facilities are limited to the property's own offerings: a small garden with outdoor seating, a shared lounge with board games and books, and the honesty bar area. There is no on-site pool, sauna, or fitness centre. However, a public swimming pool and multiple gyms are located within a 5-minute walk, and the hotel can provide directions. The surrounding area is ideal for walking and cycling, with parks, canals, and museum gardens nearby. The hotel can store bicycles securely in the garden.

The 24-hour front desk can arrange taxis, provide sightseeing advice, and sell museum tickets, souvenirs, and toiletries. Luggage storage is free and available anytime, which is useful for early arrivals or late departures. Daily housekeeping is included; ironing and photocopying are available for an additional charge. The hotel has a lift, key card access, CCTV, and smoke alarms. Bicycles can be stored in the garden. There is no business centre, but a desk is available in rooms. Parking is not available on site, but the hotel offers a discount card for the nearby APCOA Heinekenplein car park (€15-20 per day).
