Hotel Details

Location

Located on Upper Cross Street in Chinatown, directly opposite Chinatown MRT station and within walking distance of historic temples and food centres.
The hostel is built into a restored shophouse on a busy street, providing immediate access to transport and amenities. Chinatown MRT station is across the road, linking to the Downtown and Circle lines, and the bus stop is in front of the building. Changi Airport is a 20-minute drive or easily reached via MRT, which starts operation around 5:30am. Key landmarks within a few minutes' walk include the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (350m), Chinatown Heritage Centre (400m), and Hong Lim Food Centre (300m). A 24-hour McDonald's is 300m away, and Maxwell Food Centre is 500m from the property. While the area is highly walkable for sightseeing and public transport, the street can be busy and there is no parking. The top-floor garden offers a quiet outdoor retreat from the urban surroundings.

Accommodation

Air-conditioned dormitory rooms with personal locker, reading light, and power points. Private rooms available but share bathroom facilities.
The hostel offers a variety of room types: mixed dormitories in sizes from 6 to 10 beds, female-only dorms (one with ensuite bathroom), and private rooms for up to 2 people. All beds come with an 8-inch mattress, orthopedic pillow, linen, curtains for privacy, and individual reading light with two universal power points. Bunks are fitted with cabin-size lockers underneath (bring your own padlock). Air conditioning is scheduled from 6pm to 11am; some naturally ventilated rooms have ceiling fans and large windows. Bathrooms and toilets are shared on each floor, with separate facilities for men and women. Some rooms have windows that cannot be opened, which can lead to a stuffy atmosphere. The private room offers a separate seating area, tea/coffee maker, and access to a shared kitchen. Mattresses are relatively firm, and bunk stability varies.

Dining

No restaurant on site, but a shared kitchen, free water/tea/coffee, and vending machines are available for self-catering.
The hostel does not operate a restaurant. A self-service shared kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and washing machine. Unlimited hot/cold drinking water, tea bags, and instant coffee are provided in the lounge. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are on site. For meals, the surrounding Chinatown area offers an extensive selection of food options: Hong Lim Food Centre (300m) and Maxwell Food Centre (500m) serve affordable hawker fare, and a 24-hour McDonald's is within 300m. Multiple restaurants such as Si Wei Mao Cai, Yum Cha Restaurant, and Chiew Kee Chicken Noodle House are within a 5-minute walk.

Wellness and Leisure

A top-floor outdoor garden and sun terrace provide open-air relaxation space. There is no pool, gym, or spa.
The hostel has no swimming pool, spa, or fitness centre. Leisure amenities consist of an outdoor garden on the top floor, a sun terrace with outdoor furniture, and a shared lounge/TV area. Board games and puzzles are available for guest use. Free walking tours are arranged by a partner and can be booked at reception. The shared lounge is also used as a workspace with decent Wi-Fi.

Facilities and Services

Free Wi-Fi, shared kitchen, luggage storage, lockers, laundry services, and 24-hour security with CCTV and key card access.
The hostel provides free Wi-Fi throughout. Other practical services include an express check-in/out system via online form, concierge service, tour desk, and complimentary luggage storage on the day of check-in/out (overnight storage incurs a charge). Lockers are available in the luggage room behind reception. Laundry service is offered for an additional charge, and ironing facilities are free. A minimarket on site sells basic essentials. The building has no lift, only stairs to the upper floors (up to the 3rd floor). Security includes CCTV in common areas and outside, fire extinguishers, and key card access to floors and rooms. Accepted payment methods are Visa and MasterCard; a credit card is required for reservation.
