BEFREE HOSTEL - SELF-SERVICE, Vienna

The hostel sits in a lively area a short walk from Wien Westbahnhof (700 metres) and Wiener Stadthalle (6 minutes on foot). The metro lines U3 and U6, plus several tram lines, connect the property to the city centre in about 10-15 minutes. Schönbrunn Palace is 3 km away, and the main shopping street Mariahilferstraße is within easy reach. For airport transfers, take the VAL1 shuttle bus to Westbahnhof and walk 7 minutes. Lidl supermarket is a 2-minute walk, and several restaurants-Pulkautaler Wein & Bierhaus, Pizza Mann, All Rice, and others-are within 0.5 km. The area is rated high for location, with public transport stops right outside, making car-free exploration straightforward.

Rooms include private double, twin, triple, quadruple, and dormitory setups (5-6 beds). Private twin rooms are available with either a shared or a private bathroom. Room sizes range from 14 to 21 m². Each room offers parquet floors, heating, a seating area or desk, and a wardrobe. Dorm beds have integrated lockable compartments for small items, QR-code access, and privacy curtains. Noise from corridors, door slams, and neighbouring rooms is frequently noted, so rooms near the entrance (rooms 01, 10-13) are less quiet. Fans are provided in warm weather, but no air conditioning-rooms can become stuffy during heatwaves. Some rooms face the street and may hear outside noise. Pillows are generally firm, and some travellers find the beds basic. A hairdryer is available in common areas.

The hostel has no restaurant, café, or breakfast option on the premises. Instead, a large shared kitchen on the ground floor is fully equipped with utensils, stove, fridge, and ample workspace-guests can prepare their own meals. A supermarket (Lidl) is a 2-minute walk away for groceries. The kitchen also includes a communal dining area with a relaxed bar-style atmosphere. For those who prefer eating out, numerous restaurants are within 0.5 km, including Fladerei, Restaurants Tartuf and Ristorante Mittelmeer, and Asian options nearby. A vending machine for drinks is available in the hostel.

Leisure facilities include a games room equipped with table football and other games, plus bicycle rental available for an additional charge. The shared lounge/TV area offers a space to relax or socialise. There is no pool, spa, gym, or organised activities on site. The hostel's location near the Wiener Stadthalle means concerts and events are easily accessible, and Schönbrunn Palace grounds offer free walking and park space within 3 km.
