MAIDEN OVAL, London

The hotel sits on a main road directly opposite Oval Station, placing Westminster, Buckingham Palace, and the South Bank just a few Tube stops away. Waterloo Train Station and the South Bank are reachable within a 10-minute journey. The immediate area includes bus routes, local pubs (The Derby is a minute away), cafés like Liloo Coffee & Kitchen for breakfast, and several shops. The neighbourhood is generally quiet by London standards, though the front-facing rooms experience road noise given the central location. For cricket fans, the proximity to the Oval Cricket Ground is a major advantage. Those wanting to walk to central attractions can do so, but the Tube is the most practical option.

The accommodation offers single, double, triple, and family rooms. A private bathroom with shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries is standard. Each room has a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, tea/coffee making facilities, a kettle, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have soundproof walls, a safe, and a seating area. However, many rooms are notably small, with some described as converted storage spaces where opening a suitcase blocks the bathroom. There is no air conditioning; a fan is provided. Road-facing rooms experience significant noise, and noise transfer between rooms is common due to thin walls. The condition of rooms is highly inconsistent: while some are newly decorated with clean carpets and modern bathrooms, others have broken windows, mold, faulty showers, and worn furniture. The lift is often broken, requiring stairs. Requesting a rear-facing, upper-floor room and checking recent reviews for your specific room type is strongly advised.

Currently, breakfast is not served at the hotel. There is no restaurant or bar on the premises. A vending machine in the lobby is available for snacks and drinks, and the front desk sells alcohol at reasonable prices. For meals, the immediate vicinity provides multiple options: the popular Liloo Coffee & Kitchen directly opposite for breakfast and coffee, The Derby pub for classic pub food, 24 The Oval Restaurant, and several other takeaways and cafés within a 2-minute walk. For those wanting a wider choice, central London's dining scene is a short Tube ride away.

There are no wellness facilities such as a spa, swimming pool, sauna, or fitness centre within the hotel. The primary leisure draw is the legendary Oval Cricket Ground, located a one-minute walk away. Kennington Park, a short stroll, offers tennis courts and green space. For a wider range of entertainment, sports, and cultural attractions, central London is easily accessible via the adjacent Tube station.
