BEST WESTERN DAM SQUARE INN, Amsterdam

The hotel sits on a pedestrian-only side street off Dam Square, putting you steps from the Royal Palace, Madame Tussauds, the Nieuwedijk/Kalverstraat shopping district, and the floating flower market. The Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, and Van Gogh Museum are all within walking distance (10-20 minutes). Amsterdam Central Station is an easy 10-minute walk, and tram stops at the end of the street connect to the Museumplein and other districts. For canal boat tours, the departure points are about 5 minutes on foot. If arriving by car, use Q-Park Amsterdam Nieuwendijk (Nieuwezijds Kolk 18) rather than searching for street parking.

The breakfast includes standard continental items such as several types of bread, cheeses, ham, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, and juice. There are no hot options like scrambled eggs or bacon. The breakfast room can be crowded during peak times. Guests who prefer more variety or a hot meal can find many cafés and restaurants just steps from the hotel - the area around Dam Square has dozens of dining options. The hotel also has a bar (open until 17:00) for drinks, and a vending machine for beverages. Complimentary water (still and sparkling) and coffee/tea are available in the lobby 24 hours.

There is no spa, gym, pool, or sauna on the property. Leisure activities are centred on the immediate surroundings: canal boat tours depart a 5-minute walk away, and Vondelpark is about 15 minutes on foot. The hotel's central location puts you close to museums, shopping, and nightlife areas such as Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. Bicycle storage is available in the basement for guests who wish to explore the city by bike.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. The front desk is staffed 24 hours and can assist with tour bookings, fax/photocopying, and package acceptance (hotel is not liable for packages). Luggage storage is free and secure, allowing guests to explore before check-in or after check-out. Guests arriving early may sometimes check in if a room is available. Laundry and dry cleaning are offered for an additional fee. An iron and ironing board can be borrowed from reception. The lift serves all floors, though the suite has an internal spiral staircase. No parking is on site; the nearest garage is a 10-minute walk. No airport shuttle - use the train/tram combination or a taxi (taxis drop off on the main road, a 2-3 minute walk away). Limited housekeeping: sheets are changed every three days, and room cleaning may not be performed if guests are in the room during the scheduled time.
