CONSCIOUS HOTEL THE TIRE STATION, Amsterdam

The hotel is set in a quiet residential area just to the south of the city centre, with Vondelpark a two-minute walk away - ideal for morning runs or leisurely strolls to the Museum Quarter (2 km). Tram 1 and 17 run from Surinameplein (less than a 5-minute walk) to Central Station in about 20 minutes. The Overtoom neighbourhood offers shops, supermarkets and a range of restaurants and bars within a 10-minute walk. Schiphol Airport is 8 km away and can be reached by train via Amsterdam Lelylaan station, then a short tram ride. The quieter location means fewer crowds, but city-centre attractions are a 20- to 30-minute tram ride away.

All rooms are climate-controlled and feature soundproofed windows, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a carpeted floor, a wardrobe, a safe deposit box, and a tea and coffee maker. Each room has a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Double rooms have one bed, twin rooms have two single beds, and triple rooms have three single beds - ideal for small groups or families. The hotel can also add a baby cot for children under two. Road-facing rooms can hear some tram noise, but double glazing keeps most of it out. Rooms are modern but simply furnished. A luggage rack or additional seating may not be available, making longer stays less practical for unpacking.

Cafe Moer, located in the same building, is open daily from 07:30 to 22:00 and serves international and European cuisine that is entirely organic and vegetarian, with vegan options available. Breakfast is a buffet with gluten-free choices and a breakfast-to-go option, priced at €22 per person. Special diet menus can be requested. The on-site pastry shop Sticky Fingers sells freshly baked goods. A complimentary glass of wine is offered in the lobby each day between 17:00 and 18:00. The hotel also has a coffee shop with excellent coffee and a selection of snacks and drinks available at the reception. Several restaurants and bars are within a 5- to 10-minute walk.

For leisure, the hotel offers bicycle rental from the lobby - €15 per day for 24 hours or €13 for 3 hours - making it easy to explore Vondelpark (120 metres away) and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Guests can relax on the outdoor furniture or sit in the café-lobby area. There is no pool, spa or fitness centre on site, but the nearby Vondelpark provides ample green space for walking, jogging or picnicking.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Express self-check-in via touchscreen is supported by a 24-hour host. Luggage storage is free for early arrivals or late departures. Daily housekeeping is included, but may not be automatic - guests can request servicing at reception. A laundry service is available for an additional charge.
