The Burrard sits directly across from St. Paul's Hospital, which means ambulance sirens can be frequent, especially at night. The immediate area also includes the Davie Village dining and entertainment district within a 600-metre walk, and the Robson Street shopping area is just three blocks away. Public transit is close: the N#2 bus runs near the hotel, and the convention centre is a 21-minute walk (2 km) or a short bus ride. A taxi to the cruise terminal costs about $6-$8, and to the Pacific Bus Station about $8-$13. The surrounding streets can feel busy, with some pedestrian traffic that may feel less secure after dark, but most find the location safe and walkable for daytime exploration.

Guest rooms are functional but small, with limited space for large luggage. Each room is air-conditioned (via a portable unit that can be noisy), and includes a desk area, wardrobe, safe, hairdryer, and a private bathroom with bath or shower. Some rooms face the garden courtyard and are quieter, while street-facing rooms experience traffic and ambulance noise. The building has thin walls, so noise from neighbouring rooms can be heard. Windows can be opened in some rooms for ventilation. Bedding consists of a pillow-top king or queen bed, and the beds are generally comfortable although some find them soft. Rooms on the second floor overlook the courtyard, and the elevator is small but functional. No rooms have a balcony, and microwaves are only available in the basement.

The Burrard does not have a restaurant. Breakfast is not included, and the room does not offer any breakfast option beyond the in-room coffee and tea. A coffee shop is accessible from the lobby for morning coffee and pastries. In the evening, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (mocktails) and snacks are served in the lobby or courtyard. For sit-down meals, guests can walk to dozens of restaurants within three blocks, including Caribbean, Japanese, Asian, and Italian cuisine, as well as a popular restaurant attached to the building (Burgoo).

The hotel features a central courtyard with palm trees, seating areas, a gas fire pit, and outdoor games including ping-pong and cornhole. Free Brodie cruiser bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with helmets and locks provided; they are excellent for cycling around Stanley Park and the seawall. The hotel also offers free passes to Steve Nash Fitness World, a 5-minute walk away. There is no pool, spa, or fitness room on site.

WiFi is free throughout the property and is reported as fast and reliable. The 24-hour front desk can assist with taxi bookings, local information, and luggage storage before check-in and after checkout at no charge. Laundry machines are in the basement. The business centre offers free printing and faxing. Parking is on site behind a secured gate, costs CAD 29.50 per night plus tax (may total ~$40), and spaces are limited; EV charging is available. Pets are allowed by request for a $25 per night fee. Cribs are complimentary; rollaway beds cost extra. The hotel has a lift, and rooms include a safe. The elevator is small but functional.
