CENTAURO HOTEL, Venice

The Centauro Hotel is on Calle della Vida, right in front of the Scala Contarini del Bovolo. St Mark's Square (450m), the Ducal Palace, St Mark's Basilica, the Rialto Bridge, and the famous shopping streets of Calle Larga XXII March and Mercerie are all within a few minutes on foot. From the Santa Lucia railway station, take vaporetto line1 or2 to Rialto. From Marco Polo Airport, take the Alilaguna Orange Line boat or a bus to Piazzale Roma, then the vaporetto to Rialto. From Treviso airport, take a shuttle bus to Piazzale Roma and then vaporetto1 to Rialto. The hotel is a 4-5-minute walk from the Rialto vaporetto stop. No parking is available at the hotel; cars must be left at Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma. Reduced parking rates are available at partner garages.

Room types include Superior Single (compact, basic bathroom), Superior Double (more space), Superior Double with Private Terrace (rooftop view), Superior Double with View (canal view, no balcony - on 2nd or 3rd floor), Superior Triple (flexible bedding: 1 single + 1 double or 3 singles), and a Suite (1st floor, canal view with private balcony). Standard rooms are small, and the bathrooms are very compact with tiny shower cubicles; single rooms face an internal wall or alley. The hotel has no lift. The three floors are accessed by steep, uneven stairs. Housekeeping is done daily starting around 7:00, which may be noisy. Bed comfort varies - some mattresses are described as hard or with a gap when two singles are pushed together. Hairdryers are provided but may be weak.

The breakfast buffet offers bread, croissants, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, cold meats, cheese, and jam. Filter coffee and tea are available; cappuccino is on request. No hot dishes such as eggs or bacon are served. Breakfast is organised in shifts to manage the number of guests; you choose your preferred time on arrival. The hotel does not have a restaurant or bar for lunch or dinner. Several restaurants and cafés are within a 3-5-minute walk. A bottle of wine is included for stays of two nights or more per a secret discount offer (subject to availability).

WiFi is free in all areas. Luggage storage is available free of charge before check-in and after check-out. The 24-hour front desk can provide maps, local advice, and a ticket service for events and concerts. Safety deposit boxes are in all rooms (key-operated). Housekeeping uses atomiser disinfectant cleaning in all rooms and common areas. Cots are available on request. No parking exists on site; the hotel has agreements with garages at Tronchetto and Piazzale Roma for reduced rates. No airport shuttle is offered.
