The hotel is set in the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo terminal complex, placing you steps from Station Street with live music, the Comedy Catch, and numerous dining options. The Signal concert venue is directly across the parking lot - rooms nearest to it can experience significant late-night noise and bass vibration. The Tennessee River, aquarium, and pedestrian bridge are a short shuttle ride away via the free electric bus that stops at the property. UTC is a 5-minute drive or 30-minute walk. Walkability is excellent for a compact urban area, and the walkable district extends to several craft breweries, coffee shops, and the Southside neighborhood.

Hotel rooms and suites feature king or queen beds, soundproofing, air conditioning, heating, a mini-fridge, and tea/coffee facilities. The train car rooms (Sleeper Deluxe or Triple Room) offer a unique half-car layout with a vaulted ceiling and small bathroom, but can feel cramped for more than two people and have limited storage, no microwaves, and no closets. Some rooms have balconies or patios - those facing the courtyard or pool are quieter. Road- and parking-lot-facing rooms are susceptible to noise from passing cars, children, and the Signal venue until late. Rooms can be very dark; overhead lighting is the primary source and cannot be dimmed. Beds are consistently praised as very comfortable, and showers have excellent water pressure. The building is wheelchair accessible with a lift, adapted bathrooms, and tactile/braille signage.

Elsie's Daughter is the hotel's high-end restaurant, serving dinner and cocktails with a menu of American, Belgian, and French-influenced dishes, including a notable short rib ragu and French fries. Open daily 16:00-00:00 (Sunday until 21:00). The kitchen stops serving food at 22:00; drinks continue until midnight. In the mornings, the lobby coffee bar sells coffee, tea, and pastries (not complimentary). There is no complimentary breakfast or in-room complimentary bottled water. The surrounding complex offers several bars and cafes within a short walk, including Frothy Monkey with weekday happy hour specials. The Boneyard is a bar and grill with a patio, barcade, and live music, open until late.
