HOTEL DE LA TERRASSE, Paris

The location is one of the most practical budget options in northern Paris. The metro line 4 runs directly outside, connecting to Saint-Germain-des-Près, Notre-Dame, Les Docks de Paris (2 km), and the Stade de France within a 25-minute metro ride. Walking to Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur takes about 12-18 minutes. The immediate area is lively, with many restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, fast-food outlets, and a large flea market nearby. However, the neighbourhood around the hotel is generally considered less safe, particularly at night, with street-level activity that may feel uncomfortable for some visitors. Public transport access is excellent, but walking alone after dark is not recommended. For car users, the Périphérique ring road is 2 minutes away, and the hotel offers secure private parking (€25 per day, by reservation), which addresses the lack of safe on-street parking.

Rooms are individually decorated in bright tones and come with a flat-screen TV, telephone, private safe, and a small private bathroom with shower. Some rooms have been renovated with modern fixtures, new bathrooms, blackout curtains, and USB charging ports. Room size is compact - better suited for solo travellers or couples on city-break itineraries, though quadruple rooms are available for families. The triple room layout may have a double and a single bed in a small space. A dressing area is provided, but full wardrobes are not always present. The lift serves most floors, though it may occasionally be out of service, requiring use of narrow staircases. Cleanliness standards can vary significantly; daily housekeeping is free and linen is changed regularly, but some rooms may have inconsistent cleaning. Road-facing rooms can be noisy due to traffic, and internal noise from adjacent rooms and hallways is audible. Temperature control is managed from reception in many rooms. A kettle and fridge are available at reception for shared guest use.

The hotel does not serve breakfast, nor does it have a restaurant or bar. A vending machine for drinks is available in the lobby. This means all meals need to be planned outside the property. Fortunately, the immediate area is rich in options: within 300 metres there are at least eight restaurants, including traditional French bistros, bakeries, fast-food chains (McDonald's, KFC), kebab shops, and international cuisine. A supermarket is directly opposite the hotel, and a bakery with fresh baguettes and croissants is a few steps away. Many travellers use these nearby cafés and bakeries for breakfast and casual meals. For a fuller dining experience, Montmartre and the surrounding streets offer many additional sit-down restaurants.
