HOTEL DU CENTRE, UN HOTEL AMMI, Nice

The hotel sits on a pedestrian street directly opposite Notre-Dame Basilica, providing a quiet setting despite being in the heart of Nice. The main shopping avenue Jean-Médecin is right next door, and Place Massena is 10 minutes on foot. Tram line 1 is a 2-minute walk, connecting to the airport and all major sights. The train station is only 5 minutes away, making day trips to Monaco, Cannes, and the surrounding Riviera effortless. While the street is pedestrian-only, taxis and trams are the recommended ways to arrive. For those with cars, the Q-Park Notre-Dame is 2 minutes away with a hotel-discounted rate.

Standard rooms are on the smaller side-typical for a central city hotel-and include a wardrobe, work desk, electric kettle, and either a Nespresso machine or coffee maker. The Junior Suites add a convertible sofa bed, extra floor space, and often a balcony with a direct view of the cathedral. Only two rooms in the hotel have a balcony, so early booking is advised for those. All bathrooms are private with a shower; some have been recently refreshed, while others retain older fixtures. Air conditioning is individually controlled via remote. Road-facing rooms can experience noise from passers-by and early church bells, while courtyard-facing rooms are quieter. Daily housekeeping is provided, and a pillow menu allows selection of preferred firmness. Rooms on higher floors (4th/5th) may experience weaker WiFi, but portable pocket WiFi devices are available free of charge.

Breakfast can be enjoyed indoors or on a sunny terrace with views of Notre-Dame Cathedral. The hotel also operates the Hug Café right next door, which offers excellent coffee, quiche, and a full French-style breakfast for a lower price (around €10). Guests receive a 10% discount at Hug Café if they skip daily room cleaning. A snack bar and coffee house are available on site, and wine/champagne can be ordered for an additional charge. The location is surrounded by numerous restaurants, bakeries, and fast-food options within a short walk, including Subway, Burger King, and local eateries.

While the hotel itself does not have wellness facilities, the staff can arrange beach equipment (towels, mats) and offer discounted rates at L'Opéra Plage for sun beds. The 24-hour reception also provides city tips and can organise tours or local experiences. The sun terrace and outdoor furniture at Le Central provide a pleasant spot for coffee or a light bite during the day.
