Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, and the Royal Mile are all within a 15-minute walk. Holyrood Palace and the Botanic Gardens are less than 2 km away. Despite the central setting, some rooms facing the street may pick up noise from traffic and trams.

Room sizes vary: attic rooms have sloping ceilings and are compact, while others offer more generous space. Bathrooms are private but can be small and dated; some require refurbishment. The building has no lift - access is via stairs only, up to four flights. Front-facing rooms may experience street noise, while attic rooms tend to be quieter. Heating, free WiFi, and family rooms are available.

Breakfast includes cereals, yoghurt, toast, juices, and a cooked full Scottish breakfast with choices such as scrambled eggs with salmon. The dining room is warm and inviting. There is no restaurant on site, but numerous dining options are within a short walk, including The Dome and Harvey Nichols. Breakfast quality is generally well-regarded, though some have found it basic or overcooked on occasion.

Check-in is from 14:00 to 22:00 and check-out by 10:30. Early or late arrivals can be requested but not guaranteed. There is no on-site parking; the nearest public car park is at the Omni Centre.
